How to Quickly Mount Electrical Boxes, Conduit and Pipes!

There are a few different versions on the market, and as with a lot of products used in the construction industry have a number of different names which they are referred to as. Here are just a few:

  • Rapid Sliding Wall Brackets (RSWB)
  • Telescopic Screw Gun Box Brackets (TSGB)
  • Caddy Strap Box Supports
  • Expanding Support Brackets
  • Metal Noggins

Is there a Difference Between a RSWB and TSGB Metal Brackets?

Although there are the different versions and names essentially, they all do the same thing in replacing the traditional wooden noggin, so whether you use a ‘Rapid Sliding Wall Bracket’ (RSWB) by Walraven or a ‘Telescopic Screw Gun Box Bracket’ (TSGB) produced by nVent Caddy you’ll be quickly installing services into stud walls and floor joists.

What are RSWB and TSGB Metal Brackets?

They are extendable brackets specifically designed for fixing electrical boxes, conduit, trunking and pipes, which only require a screw gun to install. They’re suitable for metal or timber and are a lot quicker than traditional methods, as they eliminate the need to measure, cut, level and fix a wooden noggin in order to provide the support. Although they are not designed as load-bearing brackets, essentially the brackets can be used as supports for anything that you can screw into them.

Why are RSWB and TSGB Brackets Better than a Wooden Noggin?

Obviously, there is the time and hassle of cutting pieces of wood to create a noggin on site. But also think of the space required for the cutting, the mess produced and the additional materials and tools needed, when a few Rapid Sliding Wall Brackets (RSWB’s or TSGB’s) and a screw gun could do the same job.

Although Rapid Sliding Wall Brackets have a reasonable simple design, they do have a number of very handy features and benefits:

  • Notched and marked for easy bending and positioning. Which allows for fast and precise mounting of services, including to the required depth.
  • Pre-drilled holes along their full length, make it quick and simple to fix any kind of clip to the brackets.
  • Fully adjustable so are easy to fit into non-standard stud spacing.
  • Easily positioned in any direction, plus you can even overlap several brackets.
  • If any services need to be moved, the brackets are simple to unscrew and reposition.
