You set off on a touring trip with your motorcycle friends. If you have to wait at a traffic light for a long time, you may have many opportunities to exchange information. There are probably a surprising number of riders who have looked at their friends’ meters while riding side by side and wondered why they were reading different speed indicators on their meters! Why is it that the speed indicated on the meter is different even though we are riding at the same speed? Such a question led us to suspect the meter itself.

On the other hand, the general roads on weekends are easier to drive than in the past due to less traffic and better road maintenance! Did you know that touring in the moped class has become an enjoyable environment? Owning a moped class 2 as a second bike is very popular.

The three well-known Yamaha leisure bike brothers from the 1970s. From top to bottom: Yamaha Chappy, Zippy, and Bobby. Speedometers for each of the three vehicles.
The speedometer of each of the three bikes is shown below. The speedometer of the Bobby was found to display different speeds because of the change in tire size. One of the features not included in genuine car navigation systems or older models is a GPS speed display. Many low-priced but high-performance and high-performance car navigation systems are available these days, and this portable car navigation system also has a speed display function.
So, we prepared a power supply and fixed the navigation system to the steering wheel post with duct tape. We tested to see how much difference there was between the speed indicated by the GPS meter and the speed indicated by the meter in actual riding.
