MAINTENANCE: Use a Compression Gauge to Visually Check if the Engine itself is Performing Well or Not | News

Whether it is a 2-stroke or 4-stroke engine, a single-cylinder engine or a multi-cylinder engine, if you like tinkering with motorcycles, you must own a compression gauge (compression tester).
Owning this measuring device allows you to know the compression condition of the cylinders as a definite numerical value, rather than an atmospheric value, and in the case of a multi-engine, it allows you to know the differences in the condition of each cylinder.
Let’s measure the compression = actual compression pressure of a Kawasaki middle 4-cylinder.

An essential gauge if you like engine tuning

When measuring compression data, it is fundamental to warm up the engine thoroughly and work only after the engine oil is warm. When measuring, open the throttle to full throttle, and if the battery is weak, connect a large battery with a booster cable and rotate the cell while providing power assist. If the battery is weak and the cranking speed is not high enough, correct data cannot be measured. This product is from Straight, an automotive and motorcycle tool store that comes standard with an adapter that corresponds to the C/D/B size = threads of each spark plug in NGK plug notation. There is also a product of the type in which a conical rubber plug is pressed against the plug hole for measurement.
